Mechanical Engineer
Advanced Projects Research, Inc. is seeking an enthusiastic engineer for project and product
development work related to APRI's propulsion and laser diagnostics programs using advanced 3D computer aided
design tools. This individual will work in a team environment where the proper use of parametric design tools
is both recognized and valued. APRI is a research and development organization which focuses on providing
innovative and creative solutions to its customers through the use of systems engineering techniques, engineering
fundamentals, and sound engineering judgment.
Responsibilities
This position is directed toward junior engineers with aspirations for growth into a senior
position within 2-4 years. These individuals will ultimately be responsible for system and subsystem development
for the complete life cycle of a project from specification development, conceptual design, detailed design, and
manufacturing planning to qualification testing and product delivery. The ability to use advanced, parametric, 3D
CAD tools to provide rapid conceptual design images in support of APRI's proposal writing efforts is expected.
Qualifications
A bachelor's degree in engineering with either academic or professional product development
experience is required to successfully accomplish the responsibilities of this position. The successful candidates
should have demonstrated ability to work independently, and as part of a team, and should be willing to accept increasing
levels of responsibility. This individual will be asked to perform supporting analysis of design work over a wide range of
fields including fluid-flow, geometric optics, heat transfer, and solid mechanics. It is not expected that the candidate
will have a thorough grasp of each of these subjects, only a strong willingness to be challenged, work with company experts
in these areas, and learn the underlying physics to understand the design trade-offs. U.S. citizenship or permanent resident
status required.
